"Working towards greater appreciation and promotion of safer and more professional fire performers."
Introduction
The Strategy's purpose is to promote use of safer fire performers and fire safety awareness for events, venues and the public.
The Strategy's overall aim is to improve awareness of safety issues involved with the fire performing arts.
The recent introduction of many new "fire performers" who may be providing services in an unprofessional and unsafe manner has brought home to us the vital importance of making a set of commitments towards greater professionalism and safety practices.
Fire performers agreeing to these commitments will be involved in playing a part in the Strategy's success - which will bring greater appreciation and promotion of safer and more professional fire performers.
The voluntary safety program has the following commitments.
To ensure that local fire safety regulations, laws and bylaws are followed.
To ensure that there will be adequate insurance covering the performance with regard to public and property.
To advise the hirer of safety issues and requirements required to perform with fire and work with the hirer to ensure these are met.
To ensure a trained safety crew is in attendance. Which will be responsible for the performers safety within the performance stage, and fuel areas
To ensure all equipment used is free from damage or defects.
To perform only what you are competent to do in a safe manner.
To perform without the influence of alcohol and/or mind altering drugs.
